Information

Helping you to feel and move better.

I have been a soft tissue therapist specialising in Myofascial Release (MFR) for over 20 years.

I was born and brought up in Milngavie and have carried on my parents tradition of being self-employed having had my own therapy clinic in both Bearsden and Milngavie town centres. For a short time I lived in the USA where I completed my Diploma in soft tissue massage (relaxation, deep tissue and sports massage) and my advanced (expert level) Myofascial Release training. On returning to Scotland, I added Diplomas in Hypnotherapy and Sports Therapy along with many other clinical skills allowing me to provide an extensive skill set to my clients.

I started my own training school, Myofascial Release UK, in 2003. To-date, I have provided Myofascial Release training to thousands of therapists across the UK and internationally.

Myofascial Release is an approach not a series of techniques. It allows me to help you in a way that is both meaningful and measurable. I not only provide hands-on care but can also provide home-care programmes, help you understand pain with pain education and therapeutic exercise if required.

Over my career, I have worked with many people experiencing pain, fatigue, childhood adversity, sleeplessness, stress and anxiety for many different reasons. Because of the nature of Myofascial Release, many people have found relief and resolve from many of their symptoms.

Special interests:

  1. Back pain
  2. TMJ
  3. Sports injuries
  4. Pelvic health including internal MFR
  5. Scar tissue managment

In 2021 I completed a BSc (Hons) in Health Sciences and found interest in evidence based practice and pain science. As a result, I completed a PGCert in Pain Science and Education which I use regularly in clinical practice.

I am the Vice Chair of the Scottish Manual Therapist Organisation (SMTO), a consultant and head of the research group for the General Council of Manual (and soft tissue) Therapy (GCMT) who are the UK's leading voluntary body for the profession. I am also the author of 'A Hands-On Guide to Myofascial Release' which is a technique book for therapists.
