I take a whole body and mind approach to MFR treatment.

I look for causes of pain and restriction of movement, as well as treating symptoms. Short term, you will experience pain relief, increased mobility and return to activity. Longer term you will know how to manage symptoms and keep yourself moving. My background is in personal training, massage therapy and coaching. I’m also a keen hiker, climber, cyclist and yogi, with a passion for the outdoors. After many years living in physical discomfort, I know what it’s like when you can’t do the activities you love, and how to work through that to get back a fulfilling active life. I wrap up my knowledge and experience into the treatment. I listen, observe and reflect back what I hear and see, helping you make sense of what you’re experiencing. I also provide rehab activities for you to work on to support recovery.

I work with outdoor enthusiasts who:

  • Believe that they can feel better in their body and are willing to try something new
  • Are willing to take an active role in their own recovery
  • Are active and use their muscles in a habitual way e.g. runners, cyclists, walkers, yogis
  • Need pain relief from both chronic and acute physical discomfort and injury

I use a range of advanced myofascial release techniques according to what your body needs. These are integrated with deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, mobilisations and muscle energy techniques. No two treatments are the same. It’s a personalised approach to you, and what you feel during and after treatment.

I spoke to Ellie about left knee pain I’ve been living with for 12 years. Ellie suggested trying myofascial release and, having had all sorts of physio, acupuncture, ultrasound and surgery over the years to no avail, I thought I might as well give it a go. I had my first treatment with her yesterday, after having exercised in the morning, and was amazed to spend the rest of the day pain free, at a time where I would normally be feeling the pain and stiffness in my knee, in particular whilst climbing stairs. Even today the pain in my knee is practically non-existent, and I’m looking forward to getting out tomorrow morning to see how it stands up to a bit of exercise! I’ve been for a very short interval jog this morning, I’ve done a couple over the last couple of weeks to try and get myself back into running, and each time I’ve been out I’ve had a slight niggle in one or both knees. Nothing like the sharp pain I was getting but just not feeling right. This morning I ran and had zero pain! I’m not sure whether it’s because my feet feel better after yesterday or whether it was the release you did around my sit bones, but I wanted to tell you because after three years of being in and out of exercise, it was THE most refreshing thing to go out and not be in pain.
