Pelvic health symptoms are often dismissed as a normal part of ageing, but they don't have to be.

Pelvic health can also be challenging to discuss with millions of people suffering from pelvic health problems every day, and most don't know how to get help.

Learn internal and external approaches for pelvic health - specialist course

This pelvic health workshop is designed for therapists currently using myofascial approaches who want to specialise in offering both internal and external approaches to help those suffering with pelvic health issues.

At this Pelvic Health workshop you will  :

  • get access to an online theory course worth 1 day CPD providing valuable and informative pelvic anatomy, common symptoms and assessments - 6 months access (commencing from 1 March 2024)
  • downloadable theory workbook
  • 2-day in-person workshop
  • discussion of the common symptoms and conditions surrounding female and male pelvic health
  • learn the safe and effective application of a variety external soft tissue approaches for the pelvic area, thighs and abdomen
  • learn how to discuss common pelvic health conditions including stress incontinence and pelvic floor pain
  • learn how assess for coccygeal and pudendal nerve pain
  • appropriate palpation, identification and therapeutic approaches for the internal pelvic structures
  • hygiene, draping, treatment preparation and consent for treatment
  • learn when to refer onwards to other healthcare professionals
  • learn appropriate and useful self-care approaches
  • learn appropriate stretch and exercise rehabilitation
  • learn how to integrate pelvic floor work effectively into your practice
  • a comprehensive workbook for the in-person workshop
  • consideration for privacy is a high priority on this course. Holisticare does offer a few private treatment rooms however, the studio (approximately 5 couches) will also be used for demonstrations and treatments.

A CPD certificate of attendance will be emailed to you after this workshop for insurance purposes. Your 1-day online course will also generate a CPD certificate. This entire course is worth 3 days of CPD.

We may need some extra treatment couches for the studio. if you can bring your treatment couch, please let us know. Thank You!

Who can attend:

Therapists with experience in myofascial release of at least 4 days in-person plus online learning worth 2 days or, at least 6 days of in-person MFR training. Training can be with any MFR training provider.

PLUS at least 1 year of clinical experience using MFR.

Both male and female therapists are welcome to attend.

Certificate may be required to meet insurance needs as we may need to ensure that we are insured to teach you.

IMPORTANT

The greatest value for this course is to receive the therapy yourself. Each therapists attending will be asked to complete a consent for treatment form prior to the in-person course.

We strongly advise that you check with your insurers that you will be insured to offer internal pelvic floor work prior to booking. ITE and MFR UK will not be held responsible if you subsequently establish that you cannot obtain insurance to practice internal pelvic floor MFR. This course is however insured through Balens under the MFR UK block scheme (additional loading may apply).

MFR UK reserve the right to decline attendance to those not suitably qualified.

Situated 15 mins drive form London Stanstead airport and 10 minutes from junction 7A of the M11 Holisticare has ample free parking. Sawbridgeworth is the local train station on the London Liverpool Street to Cambridge line.

Accommodation can be found on the near by towns of Hatfield Heath and Bishops Stortford. Pick-up and drop off from surrounding areas may be possible - please ask.

Tutors : Yvonne Brannigan Pelvic Health Physiotherapist BEd, BSc and Ruth Duncan BSc (Hons)

Yvonne

Yvonne is a Physiotherapist and Massage Therapist with almost 30 years of experience. Having worked in acute care, rehabilitation and out-patient settings, Yvonne has a wide variety of experiences she can draw upon to serve her patients.

In 2009, Yvonne received a series of Myofascial Release treatments for a severe neck injury. Enjoying a lifelong fascination with anatomy, movement, health and healing, Yvonne knew she had to learn this work. She began her MFR training with John F. Barnes in 2009 and is an Advanced Myofascial Release practitioner.

In 2010, Yvonne joined an out-patient clinic specialising in Myofascial Release to develop her skills further. She also began her training in Women’s and Men’s Health at this time. Joining Taylor Physiotherapy in Edinburgh in October 2018, Yvonne has “come home” to Scotland. She works full time at the clinic, specialising in Women’s and Men’s Pelvic floor dysfunction, as well as MSK issues.

Ruth

Ruth trained as a licensed massage therapist while living in Florida, USA. She returned to Scotland in 2001 and continued to further her education with a Btec 5 sports and remedial soft tissue qualification, a sports therapy diploma and a hypnotherapy diploma. She also returned to the US to complete training in myofascial release adding to her soft tissue skills.

Ruth has over 20 years of experience working as a myofascial release specialist and lecturer. She is the founder of Myofascial Release UK providing workshops for healthcare professionals.

Ruth has authored her own book on myofascial release, now in its second edition, and has lectured at international and national conferences and trade shows.

In 2021, Ruth gained a BSc First Class (Hons) in Health Sciences and a PGCert in Pain Science to further her own education and to enhance her training programmes.

Ruth is the Scottish advisor for GCMT, the UK's soft tissue voluntary self-regulatory body and Vice Chair of the Scottish Manual Therapists Organisation (SMTO).

Q : I might arrive late or I have to leave early, is that ok?
A : We recognise that emergencies happen but we expect that you attend the entire workshop otherwise it may affect your CPD certificate.
Q - What do I need to bring?
A – We will email all the workshop details with what you need to bring once you book. You won’t need to bring a massage couch unless it specifically states this in the workshop information.
