If you are new to myofascial release (MFR) or even if you have been using it in your clinical practice for some time, this book offers a wealth of information based on Ruth’s many years of clinical experience and of teaching MFR both in the UK and internationally.
There are over 60 techniques including individual and combination techniques as well as essential self-care approaches. The book has colour photographs of every technique with ample descriptions of body mechanics, client positioning and technique application. The book also covers postural and palpatory evaluation and a suggested client consultation form.
The sustained approach to myofascial release, pioneered in the USA by John F. Barnes, is a modern, effective and easy to use approach for the treatment of chronic and acute pain. Ruth has trained extensively with John and his team and completed her training in 2004. Since then she has repeated many of the seminars, assisted on some of the foundation seminars as well as attending 2 skills internships at their treatment centre in Sedona, Arizona. Ruth has also developed her skills by receiving treatments from both John himself and from his staff at their centres in Arizona and Pennsylvania.
This book is written with Ruth’s passion and love of MFR and will provide insight, tips and current research as well as a variety of techniques for you to practice and use with your clients.
