Myofascial Release, The Axial Skeleton

Prerequisite: iMFT structural series part 1.

A 2-day workshop. Cost £295 early bird rate purchasing 6 weeks in advance, thereafter £320.

This workshop will look at the anatomy and function of the spine, sacrum and TMJ complex and in particular the importance of the TMJ area its relationship to the rest of the body with regards to stability, posture and musculoskeletal function. This workshop also offers diagnostic skills and easy to use myofascial release techniques in order to regain correct movement, balance and function promoting general health and well-being.

Objectives:

The participants will:

  • learn how to assess the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine
  • explore the anatomy of the TMJ joint and how to assess fascial restrictions surrounding the TMJ area
  • explore the relationship of the jaw, pelvis and cranial bones with regards to balance
  • explore the symptoms related to Bruxism, jaw clenching and joint popping
  • learn effective intra-oral myofascial release techniques for the muscles of mastication
  • explore the relationship between the sacrum and lumbar spine
  • explore how vertebral restrictions can affect the entire structure
  • learn appropriate myofascial release techniques for the quadratus lumborum and erector spinae
  • learn appropriate myofascial release techniques to unlock jammed vertebrae and promote freedom of movement
  • obtain a certificate of attendance that can be used for CPD application where applicable. Please contact your own organisation for further details.

Diploma students will require to complete the necessary assignments which will include the practical applications and theory of this workshop.

Myofascial Unwinding

Prerequisite: iMFT structural series part 1.

A 2-day workshop. Cost £295 early bird rate purchasing 6 weeks in advance, thereafter £320.

Myofascial Unwinding is the spontaneous movement of the body as a response to receiving MFR in a treatment session.

This movement is the body’s self-correcting mechanism. It is a natural, safe and effective way to release deep restrictions due to unconscious, habitual, holding and bracing patterns both physical and emotional. This movement also takes the hard work out of understanding postural evaluation and protocol techniques. It allows the therapist to see, feel and access the glitches in the patient’s unique fascial system, follow and soften through them and thereby restoring function and range.

Objectives

The participant will learn –

  • the science and theory behind this movement approach
  • the importance of fascial history with regards to emotion and movement
  • therapeutic dialoguing
  • safe and effective ways to facilitate this movement
  • standing, seated and lying unwinding
  • local and full body unwinding
  • the difference between unwinding and calculated movements
  • how to read the physical unwinding language
  • how to move through unwinding patterns and facilitate change
  • how to work with the emotional component
  • how to explain this approach confidently to the client.

Diploma students will require to complete the necessary assignments which will include the practical applications and theory of this workshop.

Myofascial Assessment and Integration

Prerequisite: iMFT structural series part 1.

A 2-day workshop. Cost £295 early bird rate purchasing 6 weeks in advance, thereafter £320.

Myofascial assessment and integration 2-day day workshop where the student will learn effective postural and functional assessment and fundamental muscle groups and ligamentous testing. This workshop emphasis the importance of function versus dysfunction and offers many, easy to learn, functional testing applications looking at joint-by-joint and basic biomechanics. This workshop also brings a greater understanding of trigger points and what role they play in myofascial pain. Muscle energy techniques will be discussed and basic applications will be skilfully integrated into effective myofascial techniques as well as the introduction of neurofascial release, a powerful and effective therapy developed by MFR UK which uses gentle isometric contraction in conjunction with MFR which increases mobility and proprioception. This workshop is available for students who have attended MFR UK’s level 1 and also for those therapists who have attended MFR training elsewhere of at least 2 days with an emphasis on sustained MFR.

Objectives

The student will learn:

  • Fundamental functional and postural evaluation and assessment
  • The basic principals and treatment of myofascial trigger points with regards to chronic myofascial pain
  • The basic principles of muscle energy techniques and their integration with MFR
  • Various applications of neuromuscular therapy to improve proprioception and mobility
  • The student will also obtain a certificate for CPD purposes

Diploma students will require to complete the necessary assignments which will include the practical applications and theory of this workshop.
