Integrated myofascial therapy is a whole body, multi-disciplinary approach to healthcare. It incorporates an integration of tried and tested advanced, direct and non direct, soft tissue and fascial techniques.

iMFT level 1
Prerequisite: Core Educational Training Qualification in a hands-on bodywork therapy including A&P.
Objectives
The participant will:
  • examine the development of fascia, its structure, function and dysfunction and the psychological effects of fascial release techniques
  • refine observation and palpatory diagnostic skills
  • learn how to assess the fascial network through touch and patient feedback
  • learn what pressure to apply and how to apply it
  • learn and develop the fundamental fascial release cross hands, arm/leg pull, transverse planes, soft tissue, lever and pin and stretch techniques
  • learn therapeutic dialoguing and explore myofascial unwinding and movement facilitation for the body/mind complex
  • obtain a certificate of attendance that can be used for CPD application where applicable. Please contact your own organisation for further details.
  •

iMFT level 2
Prerequisite: iMFT level 1
Objectives
The participant will:
  • develop a greater understanding of postural analysis
  • learn how to effectively asses pelvic alignment and understand symptoms caused from imbalance
  • learn fascial release techniques to restore and maintain balance in the craniosacral system and the pelvis
  • learn how to use pelvic positioning wedges to restore pelvic balance
  • learn valuable direct myofascial mobilisation techniques for the erector spinae group, lower limb, neck and shoulders
  • learn the importance of compression and decompression fascial release techniques for the body
  • learn fascial release techniques for visible and emotional scarring
  • obtain a certificate of attendance that can be used for CPD application where applicable. Please contact your own organisation for further details.

iMFT level 3
Prerequisite: iMFT levels 1 & 2
Objectives
The participant will:
  • learn advanced fascial release techniques for the TMJ complex, including intra oral work
  • learn advanced techniques for the thoracolumbar junction and ribcage
  • learn and experience the integration of all iMFT techniques and approaches
  • refine therapeutic dialoguing
  • learn how to teach patients self-care and myofascial stretching and unwinding
  • learn the importance and application of myofascial rebounding for assessment and treatment purposes
  • undertake the required assessment
  • obtain a certificate of attendance that can be used for CPD application where applicable. Please contact your own organisation for further details.

On successful completion of the required assessment the participant will also receive a certificate of competence in Integrated Myofascial Therapy and may apply to have their name on the iMFT register and use the iMFT certification logo in their literature.

 Myofascial Unwinding

Prerequisite: iMFT level 1
Myofascial unwinding is an optional workshop. Students may include this workshop at any time after level 1.

Movement facilitation is used in many therapeutic approaches from osteopathic practices, muscle energy techniques to yoga.

MFR lends itself to movement work due to the application and sense of feel of the fascial network. However, the movement that therapists are taught to look and feel for is a unique spontaneous movement initiated when the fascial system begins to release. This movement is called unwinding.

This movement is a valuable way to assess the system for fluidity, joint stability and flexibility.

Unwinding is unique to every person and is part of the body’s self correcting and repairing mechanism. The movement can be used very effectively to release deep myofascial restrictions due to unconscious habitual holding and bracing patterns from both emotional and physical injury.

This spontaneous movement is an ideal way to restore flexibility and function naturally by allowing access of its own restrictions, moving and softening through them therefore restoring mobility and range.

Objectives
The participant will:

  •  learn the theory and science behind this movement approach
  • explore the application and learn how to read the body for this movement
  • learn how to facilitate this movement
  • learn dialoguing skills to enhance unwinding
  • obtain a certificate of attendance that can be used for CPD application where applicable. Please contact your own organisation for further details.
